As the most common malignant pediatric brain tumour, medulloblastoma (MB) remains one of the leading causes of childhood cancer mortality with median survival dependent on molecular classification.

Glioblastoma (GBM) is the most aggressive adult brain cancer, with a 15-month median survivorship, attributed to the highly aggressive, treatment-refractory brain tumour initiating cell population.

Catch a glimpse behind the scenes to how our research discoveries are made. In the laboratory, we work with tissue culture from animal models and patient samples, measuring outcomes and analyzing results using gold-standard molecular biology techniques in state-of-the-art facilities at the McMaster Stem Cell and Cancer Research Institute.

Primary lung, breast and skin tumour often migrate to the brain, seeding brain metastases (BM), which hold a median survival time of only months in affected patients, despite current clinical modalities.
